The regular yearly meeting of Dakin took place in Bratislava on 14 – 15 June.
Is it the right way for the EU not to abandon fossil fuels, but to replace safe refrigerants with a much lower global warming potential (GWP) than before, with refrigerants that are environmentally friendly and that also lose in energy efficiency and safety? – asked Martin Dieryckx, Managing Director of Daikin Europe, at a recent workshop in Bratislava. The proposed amendment on the EU table would ban the use of hydrofluorocarbons in heat pump equipment, including air conditioners, and proposes the highly flammable propane as an alternative. Fanni Mészáros, Director General of APPLiA Hungary and Gabriella Szalai, environmental expert from Daikin Hungary participated in the two-day exchange of views.
