One of the planned innovations of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR) proposal will be the so-called Digital Product Passport. It really is what it sounds like: a digital and product passport. The plan is that this product passport will contain all the information linked to the life cycle of the product. The ESPR will define exactly what this information will be, but it will certainly help authorities, market surveillance bodies, waste processing operators and consumers to get as much information as possible about the product. It will be a bit like the energy label, or like the EPREL database accessible through the QR code on the new energy label, but with expanded information.
The 2021 APPLiA Hungary – GFK Hungária survey sought, inter alia, to answer the question as to whether Hungarian households think that there is a need for other information on products beyond the energy label, and if so, which information. The following figures summaries the results of the research:
